DL1 series – LED matrix direct illuminators for machine vision applications

High brightness in a small space : the DL1 series consists of a matrix of high-density, high-brightness LEDs. The DL1 series illuminators are used in confined spaces, where direct, high-intensity illumination is required. The DL1 series is designed for system integrators and OEMs who need to integrate the illuminator into a machine or custom devices.

RCCR^© current driver : The DL1 series of illuminators integrates the RCCR^© current driver ( RODER Constant Current Regulator ) that stabilises and equalises the current in each LED in the matrix . This provides high uniformity of light output and stabilises the LED current even with small variations in supply voltage. In contrast to traditional technologies ( resistor in series with the LED string ), the RCCR^©current driver achieves optimal control of the current in the LED and a consequent improvement in the homogeneity characteristics of the emitted light.

HTTM^© technology : use of HTTM^© technology (High Thermal Transmission Material) to dissipate the heat generated by LEDs. Proper heat dissipation enables the light sources and control electronics to maintain optimum working conditions. A special material layer is used inside the illuminator for contact between the LEDs and the housing. In this way, the temperature of the LEDs is kept constant, the brightness is stable over time, and the LED has a longer service life.

1. High density LED matrix
   High density LED matrix with integrated lens for creating a direct and homogeneous light beam. The LED array is kept regular through a special fixturing mask that ensures its uniformity of LED mounting spacing.
2. Industrial connector
   Connector with threaded fastening for easy assembly and quick disconnection in case of maintenance. The cable is fixed through a flexible grommet to ensure a small bending radius.
3. Aluminium enclosure
   Black anodised aluminium enclosure. The use of aluminium ensures high heat dissipation from the LEDs and excellent mechanical robustness.
4. Reverse polarity protection
   The internal circuits are protected against reverse polarity of the supply voltage. Protection takes action in case of incorrect connection of power cables.
5. Very high efficiency and high intensity LEDs
   Use of the latest generation of high-brightness, low-power LEDs. The LEDs used in the DL1 series have a built-in lens, have state-of-the-art features, and are produced by the world’s largest LED manufacturer.

   The DL1 series illuminators incorporate an LED current stabilising circuit for better homogeneity of the light emitted. RCCR^©current driver achieves optimal control of the current in the LED and a consequent improvement in the homogeneity characteristics of the emitted light.
8. 48H-Test certificate
   Each illuminator undergoes a 48-hour test cycle and a test certificate is issued with the product. This procedure ensures high quality of the product delivered to the client.
9. Industrial design
   The entire DL1 family is designed for industrial use on vision systems or optical test benches. The target customer for this product family is either the industrial machine manufacturer or the vision system integrator.

Conveyor belt applications

The LED illuminator DL1 has been designed to provide optimal illumination in high-precision industrial applications such as conveyor belts and robotic pick & place systems.

This product is positioned as a reliable technology to maximise the efficiency and reliability of industrial automation operations.

The DL1 series of illuminators is also widely used in gripping applications on reference plane and optical inspection before picking operations.

When a ROBOT is used to perform pick-and-place by taking material from a conveyor belt, it is important to have adequate illumination along a large section of the conveyor belt.

The DL1 series, and particularly the bar models, allow for the illumination of large sections of material passage on the conveyor belt.

Another possible application is to increase the contrast of objects passing on the conveyor belt using the “low angle” technique.

Complex shape inspection

DL1 series LED illuminators are suitable for machine vision systems that inspect even large objects with complex geometric shapes.

The ability to mount DL1 series illuminators on variable brackets enables the creation of modular lighting systems with variable inclination.

The final structure becomes a multi-sector ring illuminator capable of illuminating objects even with complex or non-symmetrical shapes.

The possibility of installing multiple illuminators on a single lighting system also allows the creation of illuminators that are switched on and off in sectors or with different wavelengths.

Linear camera applications

In vision systems using linear cameras, the uniformity and intensity of the light emitted is of particular importance.

LED illuminators of the DL1 series , thanks to their modular structure and the latest generation of LEDs, enable the design of vision systems with linear cameras.

In particular, the bar models can be used where it is necessary to illuminate objects on their longitudinal or transverse axis.

Typical applications are the inspection of bars, tubes, beams or continuous materials in strips and sheets
